Research

Concept: Victims of narcissism often find information about narcissism and quickly realize that it describes their respective narcissist’s behaviors. This similarity sparks curiosity, which triggers consuming reading material, videos, websites, and other sources of information on narcissism.

How this helps and the opposite hurts: Research pushes the recovering victim toward discovery. Instead of reinventing the wheel and figuring out what the abuse means and how unhealthy it is to stay in these relationships, recovering victims can learn from the education these sources provide.

Examples:

  1. Reading entries in the Narcissism Encyclopedia.
  2. Following people on social media who discuss narcissism and how to heal from the abuse.
  3. Joining a support group.

Advice: If you’re unsure whether certain people in your life are narcissists, researching anything you can consume will give you the skill to diagnose it. Give yourself the knowledge you need, and you don’t have to lean on anyone else.
